Our Story

Michael Rose was founded by three friends who wanted to embrace a country design in their everyday clothes. We wanted something that was a bit out there but incorporated everyday life for us.

So... Michael Rose was created

There is the belief that in order to wear something that is reminiscent of the countryside, you have to be willing to pay a premium for things such as a gilet or shirts. Although we don't sell those ... yet, we want to change that misconception and show people that you can go for an alternative country look.

Another key element about Michael Rose is that it is a combination of classic as well as unique pieces. Some designs look like they were created out of pure madness (probably James), but the main idea is to have a country look that is appealing to everyone, that can be worn no matter where you are, from a country pub to a city break.

The History Behind Our Name

We had the concept, but deciding on our name was not easy. We played around a lot with different names, but couldn't find one that felt right. Then one evening at the pub, somewhat unsurprisingly, Elana's mum came up with the name Michael Rose and we just knew that was the one. 

Michael Rose is linked to all three of us. Michael was Stiofan's dad's name, and is also James' middle name, and Rose is Elana's middle name so it perfectly tied us all together. 

Once we had the name, we then needed a logo, so after a sketching session once again in the pub, we came up with using a line drawn rose, and after some playing around by Elana, our logo was complete.
